    Due to exciting in-person programming at Hillside International Truth Center on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, we are postponing our highly anticipated genealogy workshop.  We assure you that a Zoom link will be provided for a virtual meeting that will bring you an even more enriching and valuable experience.

    African Diasporan ancestry research is a beautiful pursuit that allows us to uncover our roots, connect with our ancestors, and gain a better understanding of our identity and heritage. It is a journey of discovery and self-discovery, made even more meaningful when shared with others. That is why we are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming genealogy workshop, where we will delve into the fascinating world of tracing your family history.

    We anticipate an exciting 2025 where virtual workshops and other gatherings will equip you with the necessary skills and tools to research your family history. We will cover everything from basic research techniques to advanced strategies for locating and analyzing records. Whether you are a beginner or have been on the genealogy journey for some time, our workshops will cater to all levels of experience and knowledge. 🔍

    Here’s what you can expect:  Hands-on activities and exercises to help put your newfound knowledge into practice; Practical tips for conducting effective and fast genealogical research; In-depth genealogy basics; Q&A sessions with our Hillside family members and other expert speakers on the subject of our genealogy and ancestry topics; and more.

  • Kira’Fika Jackson

    Kira’Fika Jackson is a junior in Broadcast Journalism at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, FL. For her first podcast show, Voici Bazhane, she interviewed the Florida State Senator Bobby Powell Jr., (D-30). Her first major published piece was featured in Arian Simone’s Fearless magazine. Kira made her first television appearance on FAMU’s TV-20 Homecoming Special on channel 20. She enjoys video editing in her free time. She continues to produce more content for her show, write blogs on her website, and engage in deeper digital learning.

  • Naja Hardmon

    Naja Hardmon is a junior public relations undergraduate student at Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University. “The Mesh” is a discussion-based podcast focused on exploring the relationship between movies and politics, meshing the two topics into one. In the first episode, actress and student screenwriter Jazmine Johnson is featured to join the discussion on the impact political issues has on popular black films. She holds interests in film, music, and photography and has applied her passion for the artforms to co-produce the first episode of “The Mesh” with co-host and co-producer, ZuriCottrell. In the future, she aspires to join the music industry as a public relations or A&Rprofessional.

  • Tanzania Ralph

    Tanzania ralph is a junior Broadcast Journalism major at Florida Agricultural and MechanicalUniversity, In the School of Journalism and Graphic Design. She is a Co-Host of the “InEntertainment” podcast with Co-Host Kennedy Guidry that addresses what’s going on in the world of entertainment and social media. She has her own radio show called “Tea Time WithPecan Tan” on WANM Tallahassee. Growing up she found interest in public speaking and writing which motivated her to major in journalism with a goal to one day have her own daytime talk show.

  • Kaviena Spencer

    Kaviena Spencer is a sophomore Broadcast Journalism Major at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee Fl. With her podcast “M&M,” she talks about the legacy of Marvel and how it impacted the life of a person. She is a proud member of the organization Warriors Against Rape, she is beginning to build her brand by starting her own YouTube channel. With her experience working Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro she wants to become an author and hopes to become a best-selling author in the future.

  • Maya Dubois

    Maya DuBois is a Junior Public Relations major in the School of Journalism and Graphic Communications at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. In her newest podcast, “The Sit down,” with student co-host, Cyrena Allen, she discusses the different events and topics in the sports world. She aspires to be a creative director in the sports and entertainment industry to bring her ambitions of creative branding into fruition.

  • Kennedy Guidry

    Kennedy Guidry is a sophomore Public Relations student at Florida A&M University. Tanzania Ralph and herself teamed up to put together the In Entertainment podcast that highlights black pioneers and collaborations celebrating excellence. She is from Roswell, GA and has always had a passion for sports and hopes to pursue a career as a sports publicist. She is also a member of the Florida A&M University Association of Black Journalists. She now enjoys writing stories for the FAMUAN and is the secretary for the Florida A&M University Aquatics Club.

  • Brittany Jarret

    Brittany Jarret is a junior broadcast journalism student at Florida Agricultural and MechanicalUniversity. She serves as host, producer, and editor of the “Rattler’s Lifestyle Podcast” alongside her co-host Breyanna Holmes. This podcast features entrepreneurs who are FAMUstudents or alumni. Jarret is president of the FAMU chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, a correspondent for Sirius XM Radio’s “FAMU NOW,” and a member of the Society of Professional Journalists. Her passion for writing and storytelling is deeply displayed through her goal to become a multimedia journalist.

  • Monisha Lanot

    Monisha Lanot is a Public Relations professional in the entertainment industry from Pompano Beach, FL. In her latest work, she interviewed a published model and upcoming rap star during a podcast. Together, they discussed the existing adversities within the entertainment and fashion industry such as colorism and body shaming. Outside of being a PR practitioner, Ms. Lanot has become a public figure within the underground music world. She has single handily built an empire during her college career as a recording artist and has been recognized by Grammy award winning songwriter Rico Love, Maybach Music Group, and Hustle Gang. Currently she holds several brand endorsements, her latest one being with multi-million dollar company Fashion Nova. Through her works she advocates to women self-love, female independence, and entrepreneurship.

  • Lilla Bleu Bell

    Lilla Bleu Bell is a junior public relations scholar at Florida A&M University. In this podcast, a local Dream Defender Jodi-Ann Henningham, examines the uptick in the number of white women contacting the police about the perceived offenses by persons of color. Bleu is a staff writer for the FAMUan student newspaper, and has served as an intern at Sachs Media Group where she wrote press releases and op-eds for high profile clients. Her internship work was published in media outlets nationwide. The honors student is an active member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. She is looking forward to her next internship at The Moore Agency during the spring semester 2019.
    Lilla Bleu Bell

    Lilla Bleu Bell is a junior public relations scholar at Florida A&M University. In this podcast, she interviewed local activist and Dream Defender Jodi-Ann Henningham, about white women contacting the police about the trivial offenses of minorities. Bleu is a staff writer for the FAMUAN and through previous internship experience at Sachs Media Group, she wrote press releases and op-eds for high profile clients that were published in outlets across Florida and USA Today. She is an Honors student and active member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and will be a PR intern at The Moore Agency in the spring.
